ASHRAYA

Ashraya is a registered, non-governmental organization which has been serving the community of underprivileged children and women in Karnataka for the past thirty three years. While Ashraya has achieved many milestones over the years, below we offer a snapshot of our longest running programs.

Ashraya’s projects:
  • Neelbagh Rural School
  • Community Crèches at six different locations in the city
  • Tara Women’s Centre
With sincere and committed staff, the Neelbagh School continues to provide a motivating and stimulating environment for the students, who are happy and flourish in the school. Ashraya was the first organization to start the Mobile Crèche Programme in South India in 1983. Since inception, the Community Crèches have benefited more than 5000 children who receive pre- school education, medical and nutrition support, guidance and motivation to continue their education in regular schools. The Crèche and School projects have shown remarkable progress, both in the number of beneficiaries they have reached, and in the continuing support they have received from our donors.

Tara Women’s Centre, Ashraya’s women’s shelter, started in 1996, has provided over 300 women shelter. It continues to give shelter to women and their children who are all being rehabilitated with counseling, job placements; crèche and school facilities.
